I’m not done here

Posted on

As much as I love blogging, as much as I love writing down the crazy that goes on in my brain, as much as I love the fact that I can call people I’ve never met friends (and not “friends”), there are times when I wonder if I should keep writing.

Usually this is on either A) busy days or weeks or 2) the day after I write a post that gets 1 comment. (Comment, people! I like comments! I respond to them!)

Then I go a week without blogging (like last week while on vacation) and I get back home and go for a bike ride with a friend and talk the entire time. (Hi Megan….sorry about that.)

Then I realize that I need to keep blogging, if only so that I don’t talk the ears off of all those people who get to (have to?) see me and hang out with me, live and in the flesh.

They appreciate the sacrifices you all make, trust me.

The other times I am reminded of why I blog is for the little surprises.

I opened my mailbox yesterday and got a mysterious package….with these a-freaking-dorable owl salt and pepper shakers!!!

They will look perfect on my red shelf with my other salt and pepper shakers.

Jamie, you officially rule.

  1. OK. I’m commenting just to comment, because you LOVE comments! LOL
I do read most of your posts. I just skip the book reviews, because I have NO time to read books for pleasure, although I use to always have one in hand. Now, if I have a few moments….I workout. I wish I was better about posting, like you and that I had a nice BIG garden too! I have a first time 4×8 box, which took awhile to get going, but my beans, peas, and zuchinni took over. I plan to write up a blog post at some point, describing my garden adventure/learning experience for the summer.
    LOVE your blog!!!! :)

    • Thanks or the comment!! It is a little hypocritical since I don’t always comment on others’ blogs (your’s included…). And I said that I reply, which I do, but i don’t have your email address, so I have to reply this way.

I read at the gym. The only thing I do there lately is ride the bikes, and that is a 45 min book reading time right there.

I’m impressed with your garden, for your first time that is awesome! My zucchini all got blight and died. I haven’t had a very good season here. Note the lack of garden posts…

  6. Katie! Stop with the crazy talk…while I might not comment much, I J’adore (fancy huh) your blog! Your blog is one of the few I read faithfully. Why? You’re sarcastic and witty, you proudly read YA books, you enjoy cooking/baking/crafting…I could go on and on. So enough with the non sense…keep blogging. Okay!?!?!

  10. They’ve all said it above me. Sorry about the lack of comments lately – life’s been seriously getting in the way of blog time. Rest assured you’re one of the few people I still read rather than just browse!

  11. I totally get what you are saying. Last week I got zero comments on two of my post. I’ll admit it stung a little. I know people read bc my stats (which I hate to look at but do occasionally) are going up a bit each month but I don’t usually get a lot of comments. In all fairness, once we hit the road I quit reading and commenting as much as before. It clearly had a direct impact on my comments but not on views so I try not to sweat it. Anyway I enjoy your blog and read when I can (usually all at once when i get yoyr weekly update via email) so keep going!

Those owls are sooooo cute!!! Love!!

  13. Sometimes I wish I could REALLY blog so that I wouldn’t feel the need to talk people’s ears off when I get them captive.

  14. I read I read I read!!! For real, you’re one of my few favorite bloggers that I still loyally follow due to lack of time/ priorities. Which is also why I don’t comment too often, but I love both of your sites, and I ALWAYS take your book recommendations (the pile will get read and then eventually I’ll bombard your blog with comments, trust me!)
I think I comment more on facebook since we’re “friends” who have not met in real life though you are welcome to come to houston!
    Also, those owls are adorable!
