Who needs a theme?

Posted on

Not I and hopefully not you, because I am about to throw a bevvy of randomness at you. Starting….now.

I just discovered another new blog, one that might be the funniest thing I’ve read since discovering The Bloggess.

This blog, in fact, may be even funnier. The first post I read isn’t suitable to link to from here. There aren’t dirty pictures or anything (I’m not that kind of girl), but the words aren’t fit for a G audience, nor are they fit for PG.

See? Random.

Probably not even PG-13, but I don’t really know what the official rules are. I think when there’s at least one swear in every sentence, that probably qualifies for an R rating.

Instead, I will like to the second funniest post I readAn Open Letter to Pumpkin-Flavored Treats. I can think of no less than 15 bloggers off the top of my head who could easily have penned this letter.

Without a hint of irony either, in most of their cases.

I’d be lying if I said that I would have this in my front yard in a heartbeat if not for the fact that my street is closed and under construction so no one would see it. But hey! I have a sidewalk now! Four months later….

I’d also be lying if I said I wasn’t eating my share of winter squash, but I am partial to the hubbards grown in my garden.

Speaking of food (always), I read a great cookbook called Ripe.

I got it from the library and it is really part cookbook, part art, and part regular read for enjoyment.

It is organized first by color and then by fruit/vegetable. For each fruit or vegetable, the author gives a little (hysterical in most cases) blurb about her experience with said produce item and then lists three quick ideas for snacks or meals or how to use that item in some cooking. There is also a small tip about it, too.

That is then followed by a full recipe, with a gorgeous photo.

This recipe isn’t in the book and has nothing to do with that book.

But wow, it looks GOOD. And it uses winter squash. And it is a recipe. So….kind of theme-y no?

Oh, and one more thing.

GO PACK GO!!
