Business:
As I said, I’m not going to post book reviews here anymore, and instead, I’ll be posting them on my goodreads page.
Read my latest book review, of Sloppy Firsts (not a pornographic book, I swear) here.

Remember my mushroom growing experiment?
Well, the box said that you could get 2-3 “flushes” of mushroom growth, if you continued to mist the growth medium with water after the first harvest.
Ever the frugal gardener and experimenter, of course, I continued to mist dilligently for another 2 weeks and wouldn’t you know it? I got more mushrooms.

Nothing like the first harvest, mind you. So,still not really worth it from a cost perspective, but just as cool from a nerdy science perspective. And to be fair, I wasn’t really *as* dilligent as I should have been with the misting.
But, the handful of enokis that I got and nibbled on while giggling to Wait Wait Don’t Tell me on Saturday afternoon were tasty little numbers and well worth the minimal amount of effort.

Party:

Have you ever wondered if you are smart enough to join Mensa? (Ignoring the fact that it is a bunch of mostly pompous elitist white men, or so it is in my mind.)
I have.
So when Charlotte sent me this link to take the online Mensa test for FREE (it’s normally $18), you know I was chomping at the bit to take it.

I don’t have to tell you I am a super nerd, so taking this test was a highlight of my week last week.
I have no idea, really, what the number meant for my result, but apparently Mensa thinks I may have what it takes to become a member, and my results are consistent with a high IQ.
Shocking, right? Mensa thinks I’m smart enough to apply for a membership! Which only costs $40 for the test and then $70 a year after that.
What.A.Deal.
Yeah, so that wasn’t much of a party, was it? (Well, it wasn’t unless, like me, you geek out on logic puzzles and brain teasers and all things nerdy. Which you probably don’t. Most people don’t. It’s better that you don’t. Trust me.)
Come back tomorrow, anWhat’s a party without food?
A boring party. A party I don’t want to go to. A party that will end about an hour after it starts and leave people feeling like they’ve been suckered.

A party you’ll not find me at.
So then. Tomorrow, a party. See you there. Or here. Whatever.
Do you like brain teasers and logic puzzles? I am such a nerd that I was truly upset that they had replaced the logic section with an essay on the GRE test mere months before I took it. I am still bitter.

I don’t like brain tests – probably because I fail! But my husband ADORES them! ADORES I tell you!
I love them. I especially like the x is to y as y is to… but I forget what they call that though…
and the shapes like the how many squares do you see… You’ve got me curious with the mensa thing now!
Hooray for more mushrooms too.
Oh my, laughing my head off.
You know I love me some suduko. Branching out into other puzzles and of course, t he 1000 piece jigsaw versions
I just took the Mensa test. I too had a result consistent with a high IQ but unlike you described it, taking it wasn’t really a highlight of my week. It was pretty boring. But I tend to find puzzles dull. I am more of a facts and trivia person– the vocabulary part was more my style.
