All good things must come to an end. Such is life. Such is the fate of Green Week here CNC.
[Unrelated: Who remembers CNC Music Factory? I did a 6th grade talent show dance to one of their songs. Thankfully, no photographic evidence exists.]
Man, the 80s….I love the 80s. More than I should admit.

I gave a whole slew of links to some oldie (but goodie) recipes from my previous life (i.e. my old blog). We’ve done cookies. We’ve done stir fries. We’ve done a sauce/dip. We’ve even done some indoor gardening in the middle of winter.
Let’s end with a special Green edition of the Friday Funnies.
Starting, naturally, with a pun, of sorts. (See? Green = eco-friendly, not just the color?)

No week of green posts would be complete without a picture of the hulk, right?
Adding in yoda is just pure brilliance. I wish I could claim credit, but all I did was enter “green funny” in google images, and this popped up. I’m an expert googler, obviously.

Also?
The Packers. Clay Matthews. Duh.
It may be the off-season, but my love still burns bright.

More puns. Because you can never have enough.
(Apologies for the curse word for those of you sensitive to that kind of thing. It’s Friday, and I’m “working” from home. I’m feeling a bit punchy.)

Since I started this post with an embarassing confession about 6th grade, I’m going to continue in that vein.
Confession #2: I was a gym class hero. From grade school, where my crowning achievement was getting the school record for sit n reach (beat my older sister!!) to junior year of high school when I was picked as the captain of the gym class volleyball team, I was a gym class hero.
And proud of it.

So it is only fitting that I am beyond excited about the latest addition to my home gym. (Pictures of the gym are coming. It’s still a work in progress, but it is getting better and better every week.)
I got….wait for this….a JUNGLE GYM!!
It’s not green at all and has nothing to do with this post, but I got it yesterday and am too excited to not mention it.

This is so going to be me.
They are basically the poor man’s version of the TRX trainer, but from what I’ve read, they are more versatile (you can even hook them on TREES!) and they were less than 1/2 the price.
Saving money? That’s green.
Its killing me to not go set it up right now, but I’ve got a lecture on Cnidaria to prepare. And another one on the endocrine system. And I’m giving a talk at a conference next week and I haven’t started it.
Procrastinating is NOT green. Nor is it funny.

Wait, no, it is funny.
What are your plans for the weekend? Has anyone tried the Jungle Gym or TRX? Any tips for me? Any great green recipes to share?

I received a TRX system through my New Year New Gear exchange (shameless plug). It’s tough! It’s an over-the-door system and I only last for a few reps of each exercise.
saving money is def green! i have always wanted to try TRX! plans include house hunting version 3.0, outdoor walks (what?!) spring hath sprung and brunch in an old restored railway station!
I think you should vlog about the jungle gym for us once you’ve set it up and tried it out.
Thanks for the Friday laughs . . . really enjoyed the gym class olympian and procrastination ones. Good luck with those lectures!
oh i second that! p.s. You will love it Katie! we are TRX addicts. In the best possible way.
That last picture. So much work to be done in the next couple of months that I’ve sort of given up already. It’s amazing how the more work there is the more time I spend procrastinating. QED. (Weekend plans? Work. Duh.)
Cool! a jungle gym! I’d say that’s green- purely human powered…. I’ve never tried TRX, but I’ll be interested in hearing how you like the equipment.
This weekend is a work weekend for me…so much to do! Good luck at your conference presentation next week! (ps: I’ve been given the go ahead to schedule an interview session for us- I’ll send you an email on Monday so we can coordinate a good time for you.)
Thanks for green week!
This was an awesome post, but really, you couldn’t have finished it with anything better. Every time I think of procrastination now, that one is going to come to mind.
Ooh, can’t wait to hear more on the faux TRX! Lori raved about that thing so much.
