Let’s start with the bad, shall we? Get it over with and end on a good note.
This article. I won’t belabor the point here and I literally can’t explain the visceral, completley negative, reaction I got when I read it, but suffice it to say that I can’t NOT mention it. It’s just….I really can’t…I mean…wow. (It’s about an eating disorder clinic and modeling scouts, so read it at your own risk.)
On a more selfish note, the next “bad” comes in the form of MORE snow.
That picture was taken mere minutes ago. It’s still snowing. A lot.
Also? Thanks to my neighbor for snowblowing for me!
Lastly, I think it goes without saying that the worst bad for the day (and what makes this entire post seem petty and superfluous) is the news from Boston. I don’t think I can do justice to the events, or encapsulate my feelings about them in words, but there are countless places to look for information.
While we could choose to dwell on this and ask all kinds of “what kind of world is this”, “what is wrong with people” kinds of questions, I’m that person who uses humor to lighten the darkest moods. So onward and upward, to the good!
I may not have mentioned here how excited I am that there are going to be 13 new episodes of one of my favorite tv shows of all time, Arrested Development.
They will be released exclusively on Netflix on May 26th, coincidentally (or not), the day before my birthday.
I think I know what my next craft project will be. (Bonus points to whomever knows what that embroidery references from the show.
I signed up a long time ago to be a book giver for World Book Night. You can read more about it with the link, but it is a day (April 23rd) where millions of books, donated by publishers, are given away for free to people throughout the country.
I will have the pleasure of giving away 20 copies of Population: 485, by Michael Perry. A memoir of sorts written by a volunteer firefighter in New Auburn, WI, just a few hours away from home.
I’m still formulating my plan for where and how to give these out!
I still need to add the black seeds on both the watermelon and the strawberry, but I’m loving them! I think I’ll probably hang them in my kitchen instead of using them as coasters (because, let’s be honest, my hand-me-down coffee table is in no condition to require guests to use coasters.)
Another thing I made, based on the Tandoori Massaged Kale Salad, is this Tandoori Sauce. I just mixed avocado with some roasted red peppers and the Tandoori spice mixture. I steamed the kale slightly, because I am not a huge fan of raw kale, massaged or otherwise.
So there you go, three bads and three goods. Perfectly symmetrical.
Except that sucks, right? I’d rather have more goods than bads, so let’s add one more good:
Sure, I still have to work from home to finish grading, but still….working from home in pjs >>> working at work in real clothes.
Happy Friday everyone! What’s your good and bad for the day?
