A lot of blogs that I read do these “round up” type of posts on Fridays and while I don’t always have time to read them that very day, I usually revisit them over the weekend, when the more prolific news-y blogs that I read don’t post.
Its like having my own personal little library of short articles to read and things to look at. Things that help me pass the time while my dinner is grilling. Or while I am trying to convince myself that I should be mopping the house and not sitting on the couch reading.
You know….procrastinating. Per usual.
Kind of like what I am doing right now. (Blog writing is my preferred procrastination technique.)
So, here’s my weekly round-up post, written with love, for you to read now, or later, or not at all. That’s up to you, but I will say, that there are some great links to stuff I (obviously) didn’t write and some musings on things I love and want that I did write.
There’s a little something for everyone today.
Things I’ve read:
The last few books I’ve read, the books (yes, multiple; 3 actually) that I am currently reading, and the book that is on-deck if I ever stop requesting new books from the library are all updated on my Book reviews page. All of my written reviews, as usual, are on my my goodreads page.
My Goodreads challenge this year was to read 60 books, and I’m already at 47, which puts me 7 ahead of schedule! But my real challenge was the page challenge, and I am happy to say that I’ve read 13,316 pages so far this year. That’s only 366 shy of my 2012 TOTAL!
Since I’m about 100-150 pages into three books right now, it’s pretty safe to say that I’m going to CRUSH that challenge.
The offending library book that wasn’t on-deck, but I started reading anyway. And read almost 100 pages of in one sitting yesterday.
For those without the desire and/or patience for reading books (aka killing time readers, adult add sufferers, etc.), here are a few interesting articles I’ve been reading on the internets:
Climate change is going to make your grocery bill go up. Way up. <–Awesome. (<–Sarcasm.)
10 (Scientifically) Proven ways to make yourself happier. Science itself makes me happy, but that isn’t on the list.
Stuff I love:
Go Veggie Parmesan Dudes. This stuff…..just. Yeah.
I’m officially addicted and I don’t even care. I eat it on everything. Everything.
I’m planning on putting it in the next batch of sunflower seed butter that I make. Two rights CANNOT possibly make a wrong, right?
Let’s Do Organic Coconut Flour I love this stuff for making my egg-y crepes and for cookies and for just mixing with a little splash of almond milk, vanilla, and some stevia.
That last combo tastes a lot like cookie dough. I eat it a lot.
This is another case of two rights being incapable of making a wrong. Whiskey + mustard = Katie HEAVEN.
It’s getting to be that time of year when I drink tea nonstop. I was told yesterday that two colleagues covet my prominently displayed stash of tea in my office. Next to those tea bags and several kinds of bulk teas are FOUR different steeping tools.
This is my latest, and current favorite. You just put the loose tea in the glass insert, put that in your mug, add hot water, cover while it steeps, and then drain. The cover becomes a holder for the loose tea also, so you don’t get a pool of water on your desk that you inevitably forget to clean for months.
Not that I do that. (No really. I’m clean freak.)
And lastly, this is its own category, that I am calling Crap I Don’t Want, but am still happy that exist:
I mean, I like beer (though I can’t drink it) and I love condiments and I even love when condiments and alcohol collide (see above re: whiskey mustard), but….this? I just don’t know about this.
What are you reading or loving or hating? What do you think about spreadable beer?
